Ajman: a small emirate with low costs and a short commute
Ajman is the UAE’s smallest emirate by area, bordering Sharjah and within easy reach of Dubai. Its mainland companies are licensed by Ajman DED and can trade in all seven emirates under the same federal company law as everywhere else.
Lower licence fees and rents make Ajman popular with trading companies, small manufacturers and service businesses that need a real mainland licence but not a Dubai address. Ajman Port and the emirate’s industrial areas support importers and workshops.

Why Ajman Mainland
Ajman gives you a full mainland licence with lower running costs, for businesses that don’t need a Dubai or Abu Dhabi address.
Among the lowest costs in the UAE
Licence fees, office rents and warehouse space are typically lower than in Dubai and Sharjah.
Full UAE market access
Trade with customers, sign contracts and open branches in every emirate, like any other mainland company.
100% foreign ownership (most activities)
Most activities can be fully foreign-owned. A short list of strategic activities still needs UAE national participation; we check yours first.
Port & industrial areas
Ajman Port and the emirate’s industrial zones serve importers, workshops and light manufacturers.
Close to Sharjah and Dubai
Border-to-border with Sharjah and a short drive from Dubai, so customers and staff stay within reach.
Straightforward licensing
A smaller authority with simple processes, which often means quick turnaround once documents are ready.

How a Ajman Mainland Company Is Formed
We run each step with Ajman DED and the other Ajman authorities for you.
- 01
Confirm the Business Activity
We match your business to Ajman DED’s activity list and check whether it needs approval from another authority. Food, health and education activities usually do.
- 02
Choose the Legal Structure
LLC, sole establishment, civil company or branch, chosen to fit your shareholders and liability.
- 03
Reserve the Trade Name
We submit your name options to Ajman DED under UAE naming rules.
- 04
Get Initial Approval
Ajman DED approves the activity and ownership in principle.
- 05
Sign the MoA
We draft the Memorandum of Association and arrange notarisation.
- 06
Lease Your Premises
You lease office, shop or workshop space and the tenancy is registered with the Ajman authorities. Your premises decide how many visas you can apply for.
- 07
Licence Issued
Ajman DED issues the trade licence. We then open your establishment card, process visas and prepare the bank application.
Documents Required for Ajman Setup
What we need depends on whether each shareholder is a person or a company. Documents issued abroad must be notarised and attested for use in the UAE; we arrange this for you.

- Passport copy of each shareholder and manager
- UAE visa or entry stamp, if any
- Emirates ID, if resident in the UAE
